Legendary unreleased recordings from 1978 by one of the first punk bands to come out of Barcelona.
They lasted just over a year, played naked on stage and caused outrage wherever they went.
A short-lived but essential band of the late 70s Barcelona scene whose recordings are at last deservedly rescued.
Els Masturbadors Mongòlics were one of the first punk bands from Barcelona, formed in 1977 by Lluis Miracle and with an ever-changing line-up which had guitarist Paco Martínez as its other constant member. Among the people involved was Manel, later guitarist of Decibelios.
In the same way as legendary bands like La Banda Trapera del Río, the usual lack of resources and general incomprehension towards Els Masturbadors brought them all kinds of problems, only made worse by their completely irreverent attitude, which caused chaos almost everywhere they played, including their participation in the festival Canet Rock of 1978.
All of which led to the break up of the band at the end of that year, just over a year after they first got together. Before that, they managed to record a number of tracks for EMI, which never saw official release and are now made available for the first time. It's the evidence of a crucial period for the later changes in Spanish music, which were only possible thanks to the transgressive and no holds barred behaviour of bands such as Els Masturbadors Mongòlics.
